What Are Lowlights?
When lowlights help
- Highlights have built up and your hair looks one flat blonde
- You want a softer, more natural or "lived-in" blonde
- You're going darker for fall and winter
- You want grow-out to look less obvious
Lowlights + highlights
Many clients get both in one visit — highlights for brightness and lowlights for depth. You can book a full lowlight or a combined lowlight/highlight appointment online.
At The Hair Lounge: lowlights are offered by all of our color stylists — see Meet the Team to find your match.
Common questions
Do lowlights damage hair?
Lowlights deposit color rather than lighten, so they're generally gentle. Going very dark on very light hair may need a filler step first.
How long do lowlights last?
They fade gradually over several weeks; many clients refresh them with their next highlight.
