Which one should you pick?
There isn't a single "best" extension — the right method depends more on the result you want than on your hair type, plus your lifestyle and budget over time. If you want the most volume and like the idea of reusing hair, hand-tied wefts are popular. If you live in high ponytails, K-tips are often the better fit. If you want something quick and lightweight, tape-ins are worth a look. Your stylist will recommend a method at your consultation after looking at your hair in person.
What about other methods?
You may also hear about I-tips (micro-links), clip-ins, sew-ins and machine wefts — see the Hair Dictionary. These are good to know about, but the three methods above are the ones we install.
Common questions
Which extension method lasts longest?
Per install, K-tips are usually worn about 3–4 months before removal. Hand-tied and tape-in hair is moved up every 6–8 weeks, but the hair itself can often be reused for 6–12 months with good care.
Does my hair type decide which method I get?
Not really — it is more about the result you want: length, volume, how you wear your hair, and how much upkeep you want. Your stylist will recommend a method at your consultation.
Are hand-tied extensions better than tape-ins?
Neither is better for everyone. Hand-tied wefts give more volume and use no adhesive; tape-ins install faster and lie flatter. It comes down to your hair and goals.
